GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Senior Design Engineer (Electric) who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
Responsibility for the management of a Design team (up to 6 people), accessing and completing designs from LV to 33kV. Also providing Design & Technical support to the wider BUUK Group.
Your key responsibilities are
The role will include the direct line management of a Design team, providing direction, guidance, monitoring and reporting.
Continuing to support the Design team capability development, in terms of collaboratively developing training plans and associated systems.
Support technically the creation, amendment & technical evolution of policies & processes, in line with correct working practises, legislation, industry requirements, the company health & safety policy & core values.
Ensuring all Design reporting to regulatory bodies via the Electricity Design Manager is adhered too, along with maintaining & developing relationships ICPs, DNO’s & BUUK stakeholders.
Assist all GTC Electrical departmental managers in development of greater efficiency within the company to promote continuous improvement to GTC Electrical Design procedures.
Assist the Electricity Design Manager with identifying competency gaps, provide guidance & collaborate with the business managers to develop a training programme where applicable.
Proactively encourage the business to promote the City & Guilds Electricity training program & positively engage with the IET.
Undertake Network demand calculations and design Points of Connection (POCs) from existing electric networks to provide technical solutions and quotations for 3rd party POC Applications, including Network modelling where required for reinforcement designs, including where requirements to incorporate emerging technology.
Undertake Network export calculations for modelling of embedded generation applications on existing electric networks to assess and approve embedded generation applications in line with ENA ER G98 & G99 as well as relevant Company Standards.
Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Electricity Design Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum - Higher National Certificate in Engineering (Electrical).
EUSR (CSCS) Card.
Experience/Knowledge
Experience in the design of utility networks.
Knowledge of CDM Regulations & Health and Safety legislation.
Working knowledge of current Legislation, Electrical Standards & Specifications and recommendations relating to GTC electrical networks.
Abilities/Skills
An effective leader, with excellent communication, influencing, negotiation & interpersonal skills.
Proactively builds knowledge capability through personal effort, sharing knowledge, ideas, and expertise with others.
Strategic thinker in relation to problem solving & stakeholder management.
Desirable
BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering.
NEBOSH (National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety).
SMSTS Site Managers Safety Management Scheme.
IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations City & Guilds.
CEng in Electrical Engineering (or working towards.
Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
