GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Project Engineer - SCADA who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
Provide 33/11kV engineering knowledge & support to the Project Manager to ensure continuing project success, key milestones are achieved, working standards & compliances are adhered too and financial commitments are fully managed.
Your key responsibilities are
Maintain the stability, configuration, and ongoing performance of the SCADA / Network Management System (NMS), ensuring system defects, firmware issues and configuration problems are resolved promptly.
Support operational control teams by ensuring real‑time visibility of the network through reliable NMS / SCADA head‑end operation.
Project manage the installation, commission and integrate telemetry systems including RTUs, PLCs, relays, and associated automation devices, supporting I/O checks, firmware updates, SAT/FAT activities, and version control.
Assist in the development and maintenance of digital substation standards, engineering, protection integration, and relay configuration support.
Working with the Electricity Programme Manager, contribute to the organisation’s cybersecurity posture by supporting NIST 2.0 readiness, assisting with technical hardening, and producing audit‑ready evidence.
Support the design, execution, and continuous improvement of operational test plans across SCADA / NMS assets.
Assist in the digitisation and maintenance of the electricity network’s drawing libraries and technical record systems.
Contribute to the monthly NMS (SCADA) update for the Electricity leadership team, ensuring clear communication of performance, risks, and ongoing improvement activity.
Provide wider support to the Innovation & Transformation Manager in driving efficiency and operational improvement across the company.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required to support safe and efficient operational delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum - Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (or working towards).
EUSR (CSCS) Card.
IEng in Electrical Engineering (or working towards).
Experience/Knowledge
Technical, industry, contract, programme, control system operations, commissioning, and Health & Safety experience in power distribution, up-to 33kV.
Abilities/Skills
An effective communicator, influencing, negotiation & interpersonal skills.
Proactively builds knowledge capability through personal effort, sharing knowledge, ideas, and expertise with others.
Strategic thinker in relation to problem solving & stakeholder management.
Desirable
BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering.
NEBOSH (National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety).
CEng in Electrical Engineering (or working towards.
IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
Leading multiple projects, in relation to Primary Sub-stations, including 33kV Network Management Systems.
Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
