We are looking for Project Engineer (Heat) who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
Provision of site-based support to the Metropolitan business to ensure district energy schemes constructed by BUUK and/or external parties are compliant and fit for adoption by Metropolitan.
Your key responsibilities are
The Site Engineer will be part of the Engineering team within Metropolitan. The Engineering team is responsible for provision of detailed technical and commercial service to the to the Metropolitan Business, to ensure that all District Energy Assets, are designed, installed, handed over/adopted and operated to meet Metropolitan and BUUK requirements, current Legislation and relevant standards and Codes of Practice.
Be Metropolitan’s key point of contact on site for Clients, Contractors and Sub Contractors across multiple sites.
Undertake work in progress and post construction site inspections, snagging and witness of testing and commissioning for assets being built ahead of adoption or handover from contractor.
Support the Lead Engineer in collecting design, construction, commissioning and testing information and records as necessary for Adoption of the assets.
Work with internal and external partners to co-ordinate installation / inspection of assets such as energy centres, community heat hubs, district heating network pipework and valves, dwelling connections, heating substations ,Heat Interface Unit installations etc.
Attend site meetings with internal and external partners / developers to discuss project and system requirements, encourage best practice, share lessons learned and establish relationships.
Work closely with internal and external partners / developers to identify and record construction defects on site and arrange timely closure of identified defects.
Assist with construction record / metering queries as required, including undertaking record recovery when needed.
Work collaboratively with other processes and areas within Metropolitan and the wider business.
Identify and address opportunities for process improvement and optimisation within the wider business.
Ensure that all district energy works are undertaken in line with technical standards and appropriate regulations including keeping of records and certifications required.
Produce status and progress reports and look ahead planning for inspection, commissioning and testing activities.
Support gathering if data for design approvals and handover/adoption process for district energy assets.
Undertake continuing professional development to maintain and enhance knowledge of evolving Industry Standards and Codes of Practice, Health, Safety and Environmental related requirements.
Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Director of Metropolitan.
Experience/Knowledge
Working knowledge of current Legislation, Technical Standards & Specifications, Codes of Practice and Recommendations relating to district energy systems.
Experience of inspection, commissioning and testing of mechanical and electrical engineering systems.
Abilities/Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use MS Office programmes or equivalent.
Desirable
CIBSE CP1 training.
Experience of inspection, commissioning and testing of district energy systems.
Experience of elements of project development including the implementation and use of all the necessary controls and processes to ensure successful delivery.
Awareness of project management and contract management procedures.
