Metropolitan, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Head of Heat Optimisation who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

This role is home based, with UK wide travel, including to our office in London.

Purpose of this role

Optimisation of Metropolitans Heat Networks.

The Head of Heat Optimisation is responsible for ensuring that Metropolitan’s heat networks operate at or above their designed specifications, in alignment with current and future regulatory benchmarks. Reporting to the Operations Director, this role will lead collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective collection and analysis of efficiency-related data across all assets. This data will be used to produce internal and regulatory reports and to drive actionable strategies for improving network efficiency across all sites.

Your key responsibilities are

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will own the optimisation of all live Metropolitan Heat Networks. Collaborating with a range of internal stakeholders and external industry bodies, including regulatory bodies to periodically review data, create operating efficiency reports and agree tangible actions to improve performance.

Working with the Engineering and Onboarding teams to ensure all assets report data into a central location.

Creation of monthly site performance reports.

Development and implementation of a data share solution that supports upcoming HNTAS requirements.

Working with the Operations and Engineering teams to agree actions that improve the performance of Metropolitans heat networks.

Creation and ownership of site-specific improvement trackers.

Achieving or exceeding network design specification and or future targets set by the regulator.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, mathematics, or computer science.

Proficiency in programming languages and data analysis tools.

Experience/Knowledge

Ability to organize, clean, and interpret large sets of data.

Conduct statistical and regression analysis to track and identify trends.

Relevant work experience, which can come from internships, entry-level positions, or related fields.

Proven experience in analysing energy data and converting that data into a range of dashboard business reports.

Capable of utilising complex data to create optimisation business plans for heat networks.

In depth knowledge of heat network design and operating procedures.

A strong understanding of current and future heat network regulations.

Experience in a similar role.

Abilities/Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Proven ability to engage and manage internal and external stakeholders.

Skilled in creating and managing documentation with version control.

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Ability to simplify, improve, and embed business processes.

Desirable

Experience working on heat network or district energy projects.

Familiarity with sustainability, energy efficiency, or low-carbon technologies.

Experience in identifying risks and opportunities.

Ability to agree, track and report actions and progress.

Skilled at translating technical detail into clear, actionable plans for non-technical stakeholders.

Strategic thinking with a focus on aligning optimisation outcomes to broader business goals.

Capable of embedding new processes and driving adoption across diverse teams.

Conditions of Employment

You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to handling and processing sensitive customer data.
