GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Senior Design Engineer (Contestable) who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

The Senior Design Engineer – Contestable will oversee a team of engineers undertaking Contestable Design work and will liaise with internal and external parties to design contestable works for new housing, mixed-use, and industrial and commercial projects.

Your key responsibilities are

Ensure satisfactory performance of team members in line with company and client expectations, including overseeing job management and mentoring/training where required.

Assist in the maintenance of relevant internal and external design standards and participate in audits within area of responsibility.

Achieve technical competence with relevant authority and authorise design work in line with the Delegation of Authority Guidelines.

Assist with training and mentoring of Planning Engineers
Undertake demand calculations, network drawings and variations and to ensure network designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and in accordance with Company and industry standards.

Design innovative engineering solutions that satisfy both our customer needs and the needs of internal stakeholders - provide lowest cost for greatest benefit.

Liaise with our clients to understand the requirements and constraints on their projects.

Calculate contract variation costs and produce variation orders for clients.

Attend meetings with Clients, Network Operators, and other companies as required.  

Liaise with other departments and companies across the BUUK group to ensure the safe and efficient construction of projects.

Achieve high customer satisfaction with our design / variation processes.

Any other duties as required by the manager

Experience/Knowledge

Experience in the design of utilities, preferably in the Power Distribution sector.

Knowledge of CDM Regulations & Health and Safety legislation.

Working knowledge of current Legislation, Technical Standards & Specifications and ENA Recommendations relating to GTC electrical networks, and an awareness of the implications to the safe management of electrical networks based on these procedures.

Abilities/Skills

Excellent communication skills.

Microsoft Office.

Desirable

Engineering Degree.

Engineering Council Membership at IEng or above.

ILM Level 3.

Line Management experience.

Experience in training others.
